DON'T MISSPELL MY NAME

i don't ask much from god or man
and as for life, i have no plan
i never take the credit or the blame
but when i go, please give me this
as one last parting farewell kiss
on my tombstone. don't misspell my name
i won't be part of history
and no one will remember me
i don't think its an honor or a shame
not looking for too much respect
but here's one thing, please don't neglect
on my tombstone, don't misspell my name
now, i've been bad and i've been good
but mainly been misunderstood
its hard to find a rule book for this game
i don't think i deserve a hell
and heaven ? why its hard to tell
on my tombstone don't misspell my name
and in my life, i've had good luck
sometimes i'd fight, sometimes i'd duck
sometimes too wild, perhaps at times, too tame
enjoyed my time while as a guest
i beg of you one last request
on my tombstone, don't misspell my name
cremation's not the route for me
afraid of fire since i was three
so do not let me be consumed by flame
i want to rest beneath the ground
so visitors may come around
on my tombstone, don't misspell my name
we're bald and toothless when we're new
and much the same when we are through
our blastoffs and our splashdowns are the same
the moniker bestowed at birth
will pinpoint me while under earth
on my tombstone, don't misspell my name
