THE LOVE THAT YOU DESERVE

all people, first, must love themselves
before accepting love
or they will be unbalanced
by emotion's push and shove

you'd think we'd strive for what we want
but some just lack the nerve
and so they settle for the love
they think that they deserve

some others love themselves so much
they find they fall in love
and they can find no equals
for they sit so high above

this attitude is risky
loving no one but yourself
you'll never find true knowledge
as the lone book on the shelf

so seek the love of others
as they search for love in you
but also find the patience
that will help to get you through

for life's a winding highway
when in doubt, just hug the curve
respect yourself and hold out
for the love that you deserve
