TWO BOATS LASHED TOGETHER

we started up a kinship
soon embarking on a trip
we lashed our boats together
to ensure we'd never tip
.
we set sail on the ocean
to a destination, far
to aid our navigation
we'd seek out the brightest star
.
a star with rays of brilliance
would announce that we had found
the land of milk and honey
that would be our hallowed ground
.
the tide, not always friendly
we were tossed both fore and aft
but sturdy were the bonds
that were connected to our craft
.
then came a certain evening
when the sea was quite serene
we saw the brightest star
that we had truly ever seen
.
we knew that we had finally found
the star that was the best
but yours was lying to the south
while mine was to the west
.
we set sail from each other
looking backwards as we waved
then headed to the port of call
that held the love we craved
.
i sure enjoyed our journey
though it's clear we had to part
but there will be a place for you
forever in my heart
