Christmas dreams

I waited for the snow to fall
But they were dreams
It never fell, or came to call.
I watched for fairies on the tree
To watch them dance from branch to branch
But they never came to me.
I looked to the sky for Santa's sleigh
And prayed he would stop
On the eve of this special day.
I longed for good will
In this dwelling of hate
But there was no warm fire
In this cold grate.
As I look from my window
To this street of cheer
But the carol singers,
Never came to call here.
If I ever hummed a seasonal tune
They would knock me down
And send me to my room.
Lonely child in this cold winter scene
There is nothing nothing
Just Christmas Dreams.
