darling dancing dancing all afire
to the beat the music the rhythm
lively fiercely round and round!
beloved fiery dress dangling
maiden-bride fire-dove-love 
do you hear the song of thunder
can you hear the song of silence?
do you hear the song of songs
can you hear the roar of fire?

circle fast-fast slow fast-fast slow
let it fly smoothly let it fly lightly
flying-flinging swinging-turning
let the rainbow dream shine
laugh-laugh with your eyes!
smile over your shoulder
smile smile in your eyes!
do you feel the rhythm
do you feel the freedom?

gentle warm softly your cloak firmly
red-dress warm glove fever passion
soft-soft dancing stepping easy easy
lightly-lightly quick on the ground
dream-dress body-dancing-singing!
flames burning wildly-wildly one
your dance the madness music one!
it’s too late to stop now
your red dress is on fire!!

your dress a live fiery glove gently
darling love wrapped tight around
flaming-courting-dancing dove!
wings on fire hurl the purple robe
follows soaring delirious madness!
thrill-raging ecstasy craze of energy
wild delight madly-madly-madly!
dream-dress-song your body one
in your cloak your body firmly

wind a cloak magic love-of-loves
turning-turning round and round
all in flames darling dangling
all around-and-around your body
joy all around free-flowing-love!
burning-moving-loving-winging
let it fly smoothly let it fly lightly!
melt in ecstasy rapture of delight
swirl-swirl girl the best is to come!

turning-turning love winding-winding
swiftly whirl my love swiftly softly
flowing love let the purple dress spin
spin-spin madly-madly all-all wildly!
easy wildly around-around you girl
storms of love passion fire in the sky
softly maiden rainbow fire around
let the free flow flying dress dance
swiftly-swiftly round loose dangling!

swinging-swinging wildly swinging
winding-turning love flowing-flying
gliding in curves loosely dangling
let it flow let your flames of fury fly!
lovely maiden let it flow let it fly
move to the beat! move to the music!
fountain robe o love o love of loves
free-flowing-love around you bride 
let it go let it go! let your red robe go!

Thanks! Sometimes I can hear the music in my head too it's not like hallucination or a dream even. Can just feel the music it is like it lives in me becomes part of me.

Words so wild and free, producing for me a scene of an old fashioned gypsy camp, with huge fires burning and beautiful, colourfully dressed women dancing around flames of huge bonfires, their long dark hair flying, while the men watch on.

What an amazing picture you conjure for me. Many thanks.

You've got the atmosphere 100% but the men can't just stand around folded arms! It is full moon and they can make music, guitars, tambourines drums sing and clapping hands too! Why not dance as well?

Overcast and grey and wet here we don't get so much of it in summer it's mostly sunny skies. Rain is welcome. Pity about power cuts often with the cold and that.

What a lovely poem. Such a wonderful evocation of dance, and joy.

Sadly, as editors, we have to ask you to remove the Van Morrison lyrics. Under copyright law, the only part of a song you can quote, even with accreditation, is the title. Even a few lines would render us liable for breach of copyright and possible legal action, unless you've paid for the rights to use the words. It's a complete pain, and something that comes up quite a lot on ABC, because song lyrics capture a mood or a feeling so well. I'm really sorry about it, but there's nothing we can do. We can't afford to get sued! 

The law says we have twenty-four hours to take them down, so very regretfully we have to ask you to take them off as soon as you can.

You can try!. If he gives permission, ask him if he'd let me use Moondance. I've always fancied building a story around that!
