Soul’s Reflection

Amongst her ordinary beauty I lay
cushioned against the grit stone earth
Autumn warmth then shadows cool touch
minds noble question answered this day
Distant hills overwhelmed by her
form the backdrop of the scene
cries of the curlew provide a memory
to sleep, to sleep perhaps to dream
As I cast my eyes beyond the horizon
the raven makes himself known
within his eye my soul’s reflection
passing images of my mind now to atone
The heather beneath darkens mauve to scarlet
as I’m gifted the ravens view
soaring high my soul takes notice
of the landscapes changing hue
From the depths of the valley
to the bracken browned stony Tor
one thousand souls unknown journey
her ordinary beauty to view no more
