The visitor
By Parson Thru
- 2057 reads
All those nights I watched
Praying for a fleeting glimpse
A fading thread of light
A hint
of something etched
Deniable to brain and eye
Suggestion at the edge of sight
A trace that may be you
or maybe not
I gazed
more in hope than expectation
Seeking wonders
in the miracle of starlight
Then you came
cutting through the night
A scalpel boldly drawn
across the autumn sky
You declared
that nothing should be left in doubt
Announced yourself
in bright pulsating green
You wanted to be seen
by dreamers on the ground
and pedestrians
pushing through the air
What did they see as you streaked by?
A meteorite?
Satellite?
A shooting star?
Visitor to a cool damp world
Diving over glowing clouds
and out across the sea
Untroubled by the future
Free of existential doubt
and unaware of me
