I welcome the autumn wind;
the leaves close my eyes.
I welcome the winter wind
that puts frost in my eyes.
I welcome the cold;
the rattle of leaves,
the rattle in my chest.
I welcome the cold;
the coughing wood,
the crack of old branches,
the scratching of leaves.
Now I can sit quietly,
no nagging heat, quietly
among the cold, cold, dead leaves.

I get that with the leaves,
I get that with the leaves, but rain, rain, rain, oh dear for summer I grieve.
