Many deeds philanthropic

within you at times flic

that you have done,

some, you have forgotten,

some, you remember

with satisfaction within you, that flutter,

Many more may be peeping within you

waiting for an opportunity for a breakthrough.

You, advise and advocate I

for a banyan tree

to plant and nurture

till to sustain itself, it matures.

At a date in the future,

to rest over it there may be no vulture

sitting over it flapping its wings,

no cuckoo behind its green foliage to sing,

no crow to eat its fruits with million seeds

from its wastes, no further trees  may breed,

no passersby ever may rest under it,

no Hindu lady may vermilion her deity

on its thick trunk at the root base

for sharing loots crooks may use the place,

no children may be swinging

on its roots from top majestically hanging,

no place soft enough to be penetrated

its tertiary roots may find to get firmly rooted,

it may not be banyan tree of our era with a huge girth

under it, no Budh may meditate for salvation and rebirth.

Stll at it, somebody will say

“A God’s gift to mankind anyway.”.
