Divine Game
P K Routray
At the womb of the mother
summersaults the child like a professional player.
The mother enjoys the pain with tears of joy
thus starts mother and child divine play.
The labor pain, though the worst on the earth but mothers hide.
The pangs and pains as in a games is tinged with pleasure and pride.
In course of nurturing the child to grow
the mother has to play many a role in the show
as a singer, as a story teller, as a teacher and a master
also serving the child with love, friendship and fear.
A new born child senses its mother’s presence
if not asleep, cries loudly questioning her absence.
At times a crawling child slips out of its mother’s hold
mother’s endeavors to catch the child is a scene to behold.
Feeding a child is dictated by the child’s whim and mood
a difficult task only mother by her grace can do the good
by telling a story, appeasing and appealing to the child
at times the abuses of impatient mother makes the scene wild.
Then it needs time and tact to bring peace to the scene
forgotten within moments by both with hearts close and clean.
The games between mother and child do good to both
contributing to mother’s health and child’s all-round growth.
Nowadays with days of crèche both miss major part of this divine play.
On the health of mother and child definitely this has an adverse say.
