Forms of Faith
P K Routray
Without doubting its mother a trace
Kitten is fearless while moving from place to place
held tightly by the jaws and the teeth of its mother
as in the love of its mother its faith does never flutter.
Least afraid it is of the sharp teeth of its mother
even though fearsome they are, to pieces, rats they can tear.
But the baby of a monkey remains full of fear
while moving from place to place clinging to its mother dear
even knowing that its mother loves it very much
but love to its own life shakes its faith in mother as such.
The mother monkey jumps from one tree to another
with the baby hanging on its own tightly holding her.
but when its baby is in adversity beyond its capability
jumps the monkey to protect the child to the best of its ability.
Between child and mother love remaining the same, faiths differ
as the examples here of kitten and cat, monkey and its bay offer.
The act of kitten is total surrender with love and absolute trust
the act of baby monkey though not devoid of love but is having degrees of distrust.
Let us follow the kitten completely surrendering with unflinching faith in the Almighty
to cross across the turbulent ocean of the mortal life without worry and anxiety.
