India observes her Independence Day

We are celebrating our sixty fifth Independence Day,
With festivity all-around, everybody is happy and gay.
We send messages to our brothers across the globe,
For peace, brotherhood and pray for health and happiness which none can rob.
No famine and no tsunami should ever come to earth.
No bloodshed, no weapon, we all will live in mirth.
We should be happy seeing others happy,
Let lust, greed and anger die along with our enmity.
Mother India calls us on our first duty for her and the earth,
To save and serve the ecology we must take our life’s oath.
With our greed and selfish needs, we destroy our fellow creations among animals, plants and creepers.
Mother earth is crying for our future lest we may be ruled by demons from Saturn and Mars.
She is showing her wounds on her body,
Inflicted on her by exploitation of mines and deforestation of lands for humans, the greedy.
Her wounds are further inflated with our debris in air and water,
If we do not take pity on her, how can she nurture our future?
Besides her physical agony, we add to her emotional torture,
We forget that we are one on the earth irrespective of cast, creed and culture.
On this auspicious day we Indians make a vow,
The seeds of Universal brotherhood, and non-violence we will sow.
