A Missed Talent ?
No tear was left to fall.
She had robbed them all
as practiced by her, lifelong
here also she did no wrong
absorbing others’ sorrow
even by “ Beg and borrow.
Here it, absorbed she in silence
by many years of stiff penance
detaching herself, from family net
with all relations, she alone had set
transcending Maya and matter
aiming at a liberating merger
of her soul with soul supreme
that all beings over births dream.
On an auspicious day
when had ebbed away
the fear of Pandemic
breaching the social fabric’
frightening the man to shun
even the son -parents relation,
when Ganesh the lord of learning
to dispel the ignorance and suffering
was propitiated on earth with devotion
to get him incarnated to bless in person,
when the gloomy weather turned sunny
making it a rare day amidst days, rainy
the day was well set for the Lord
to come to escort her to His abode
a noble soul meriting thus by her deeds
serving selflessly to destitute’ needs.
With dangling bangles, vying one another
to tell “This soul is divine, we vouch for”,
the vermillion on forehead dazzles bright
to spell ‘The bangles’ tales are true and right”,
the new robes sanctifying her for a journey
pray “Lord take her to you, she is heavenly”
special drum beats announce those, aloud
Celestial beings with flowers stood bowed
to sprinkle petals over her body on the bier
and on the path the Lord would take her.
She was a girl born before her time
as with her talent, time could not rhyme
A girl from a remote village,
tradition being its anchorage
where girl has to marry early
and goes off with her hubby
to grow there their family tree
her childhood dream forgets she
impeded was thus, further, to pursue
Nothing her doctorate brother could do.
The booklets exhibiting her poem
reveals her talent was awesome.
Her knowledge was phenomenal
on topics national and international
only on micro reading of a newspaper
daily without fail preferring it to prayer.
Root is she
of her family tree
nurturing it to grow
a single handed sow
enduring on the way
“ Come what it may”
keeping under blur
her thirst and hunger
but to reap its yield
she stayed off the field
to vanquish the vanity
with sword of austerity.
Hey Mausi! our relation
can explain it to none
the adoration,
the affection
that webbed us,
made many envious
but you made sure
to keep it secure
by your progeny all
that make us to haul
deep brotherly adoration
passed to the next generation
Khuki as your eldest daughter
you only conferred it on her
by your sacrifices immense
and for her your preference.
your pledge and propitiation
for Dhadhu bhai over your son
spells your unique magnanimity
surely it is recognized by divinity.
Bow we all at you with gratitude
for your affection of awesome magnitude.
