Mom with her in-laws

 

Hey Bou!

We feel for you

as at an early age,,

ending your playing days

your age being twelve or so

arranged you to go

your parent's duo

damn caring your yes or no

to a zamindar house

to be their son’s spouse

with aid to assist

to make up for what you missed.

They're in a large joint family

you must be at sea

with many in-laws galore

junior to superior.

A girl yet to be aged teen

all relations hearts you could win

paying adoration and love to them due

as collected by me as I grew..

 

Even after the family partition

all stayed in the same mansion

mom had a close companion

in her one sister-in-law, not her own

both used to go gossiping together

for daily chores twice to the river

as I used to cry to accompany

they developed a language funny

that I took me years to understand

cheated me, mother on that stand.

Her own sister in law was adopted

but remained they closely bonded

with the mutual respect in between

that was pure true now rarely seen.

Because of love to clan’;s mansion

her uncle in law stayed away from his son

and to his every old age need

staying alone, mother could feed.

Even long after the family partition

she treated all in-laws as her own

as since her teen with them she grew\

all in family tree with tears bade her adieu

staying afar and segregated

pray lord for all in unison and united.

( we call our mother as Bou. My mother left for her heavenly abode at an age of 92 on 20th May.. She was given in marriage at an age of twelve. Her in laws’ family was a big family staying in a gigantic old mansion and they were then zamindar.)
