My Song
P K Routray
A screen
is seen
at the start and at the finish
in between does vanish
in a movie show.
Hardly it, audiences know
in the hustle and bustle
in their entry-exit tussle.
Bur, on it, enact all actions
all showmanship exhibitions
that enthrall and captivate
the audience to rapturous state.
On it, tread and tramp
hero, heroine villain, and vamp,
snowclad mountain melts to sea,
a burly Tarzan is brought to the knee.
The sweet silences to deafening roars
scenes of love peace to mutiny and wars
crafted over the screen over and over again
but unruffled, undisturbed, unaffected it remains.
Poems have been composed in plethora on the leaf of lotus
eulogizing its nonattachment characteristic in focus
as the attachment is demoniac and nonattachment is divine.
Hence here on a much-neglected screen, the song I assign.
