Rehab I
P K Routray
Remember I my early days
steal, lie and run we with craze
for noon, evening or midnight shows
to hall near or far with friends or foes
to witness films in black and white
to our thrill, excitement and delight,
screened in a hall with thatched roof
water dripping, hot, humid and not being sound proof
Many interruptions adding to the intermission
Still the film and the theme brought us jubilation.
The joy then as a teen ager I got, I compare it now
The pleasure and excitement in comparison is very very low
even in halls with facilities of seven star luxury
the need for live show or exotic theme is the present teen agers’ worry.
This addition of color robed the pleasure of black and white
raising the aspiration to unreachable and unacceptable height.
The more the materialistic achievements are made to gratify the desire
The worse becomes the frustration with wants spiraling higher.
The world today is laden by materialistic aspiration
spirituality is neglected and is almost forgotten
Desires and greed of senses rise and rise higher
Today a penny but tomorrow a diamond looks smaller.
Adding color, glamour to materials, there is no limit
to derange the man this materialistic approach is the culprit.
The resulting frustration and emotional failure wretches a man
He searches a rehab for peace but never gets in his life span.
