Some Sincere Apologies, Some Not

It's not my fault I take the stairs two at a time
And it's not my fault I believe in always handing out third chances...
That's the way my mother taught me.
And I don't believe in god
but it's not my fault I sometimes look for footprints in the sky.
And it's not my fault my fingers better know how to knit a scarf
than how to fill the spaces between yours.
And it's not my fault I would rather swim in the ocean than a swimming pool.
I've always thought salt water tasted better.
And it's not my fault that I think cicadas are beautiful
and that reflections aren't.
And that all good things come in fives
and that all good men come with wine.
It's not my fault I'd rather look at rain than rainbows.
It's not my fault my middle name means happy
but that sometimes I'm not.
And it's not my fault my hands always smell of metal,
and that I hate the smell of metal.
I'm sorry I don't always say the right thing and that my words often come all mixed out up.
I'm sorry I didn't try to save us.
But I am not
going to apologize
for loving you.

Original, honest and moving.
Original, honest and moving. For what it's worth I like the way you write, pleurotus.

Oh this is just beautiful.
Oh this is just beautiful. Unapologetic and unashamed. A more complex love.
