Who taught you that to ignore is worth a merit badge
shiny bright and blue.
I have watched people falling apart – hitting the floor
their saliva seeping through the cracks in their
yellowed ground teeth.
I write gifting you words that you will never
hear me say.
You bang on about leaving
but you never bloody do – circling back and forth
like some contemporary sociopathic Heathcliff
stagnating in the filth of a mediocre mind
I too once had dreams
they made sense back then
when my long white socks served their purpose
of my schoolgirl youth.
Oh, go ahead and laugh as you look and think me ludicrous
Just because you never received a postcard
doesn’t mean
I didn't go away…

The frustration really comes
The frustration really comes through in this poem, PoppyS. This is a time of year littered with calamitous exchanges and regrets. Enjoyed.

the ambiguility of leaving
the ambiguility of leaving and staying is beautifully obeserved.
