Feeling Feelings

To hell with feeling feelings, it’s horrible. Over the years, did the processing, worked the workshops, danced like nobody’s looking, told the truth until myself and everyone around me was bored rigid. So, Thursday, got in the car and drove to Aberdeen. When in doubt, bolt.
(Also, had a toffery-crispery token for Sainsbury’s. See, telling the truth. Am fixed).
Forecast was for sunny and bright, but the North Sea and November knew better. Due to the mild weather the day before, a sea haar came rising, crawling up the rivers like a smirk.
Drove along the beach esplanade into Aberdeen. Once on the city roads, found them disconcertingly empty, like ‘Day of the Triffids’ empty. I started thinking I’d missed a sign, but then, all became clear – the dreaded LEZ. It was bliss, no traffic whatsoever.
Started the Christmas shopping in Markies; kids jammies. Some thermal tights as well. Then drove along the river side (the Dee) to Garthdee, a magical place where petrol is 125.9.
It’s 137.9 up here, not 40 miles away.
Anyway, Sainsbury’s has a new Starbucks inside, with cozy warm white lighting, and not quite warm enough flat whites.
Stopped at Newton Dee on the way home, a Camphill community. Their shop was a refillery before the word was invented, and smells like Findhorn CC, (vegetarian ingredients+Ecover floor soap). Visited the hillside vegetable garden, and the geese. Found a fine goose feather.
By 2pm, Aberdeen was in whiteout haar, a ‘fog lamps on’ haar. Driving home, wintry charcoal tree-ghosts materialised out of the white, as if some arboreal wheel of Nature was pulling them horizontally, up and out of the ground, to rise, loom tall, then circle back down again, deep into the earth.
Love that wide-eyed, scary, sentient Nature feeling.
Possibly should read less Garner.

Wondering if the Garner is
Wondering if the Garner is flavouring your writing, if I am imagining this, or if it is Autumn vibes. Anyway, brilliant descriptions, again, thank you
