Mind the Gap

Thankfully, the weather changed. Friday was not sunny and thirteen degrees, but windy and freezing cold instead. Exterior paints need minimum ten degrees ambient, and so do I. Consequently, wee weird window only had two coats of paint. I will give it another coat in the spring. For now, wee weird window looks all pristine and glowing, like a bride. Shiny new whiteness reflecting light beatifically, into the kitchen.
I suspect that having pretty bridal windows helps a person live a more joyful life.
Am planning to zhoosh up the inside of wee weird window now too, despite the spider who lives there. It was on the plan to change the roller-blind – i.e. the new blind has been sitting in the kitchen near the back door since early last summer, and by last summer I mean 2023. There is plenty of paint and at £30 per tin, am using every drop. I hope to paint inside of wee weird door with it too.
Speaking of which, while I knew there was a huge gap between the wee door and its pavement step, I had no idea of the extent of the gales, draughts, and dust, that have been blowing in through said gap. It is the South-westerly Passage (SWP), aka the spider super-highway. On Friday morning, door opened, the windward dust-sheets were about to sail the kitchen off down the Deveron. Door closed; it wasn’t much better.
Built a neoprene wall in the gap by layering self-sticking neoprene draughtproofing strips - doubles as an anti-spider measure. Have more exterior and interior draught-proofing to add, but realising I was shattered, decided to take the rest of the weekend off.
Good decision.
Watched some Dr McDreamy episodes, then went aurora hunting, well aurora parking really, south-westerly winds whoo-hooing like a backing vocal.
