Movie Monday - That's my Fun Day

Continued the long weekend into Monday and went to see ‘The Outrun’ at Number 30 cinema in Huntly. The film made me want to go to a rave and to go back to Orkney - for a whole winter this time, not just a solstice. Not that I’ve ever been to a rave, am ever likely to know where one is, or even if they’re still a thing, but the storm-waves and soundtrack were just that good. There’s always 5Rythms in the kitchen. Last five minutes or so of ‘The Outrun’ is fabulous, easily wins the best ending award, no doubt helped by a couple of slowish bits in the middle. Overall, loved it.
I was early getting there as it never takes as long to get to Huntly as I think it’s going to take. It’s a boomer thing. As if the goddess of ‘no spend’ (Frugalina) was blessing the afternoon, the usual spending haunts of Orb’s Book Shop and the Ethical Refillery were closed. Went for a wander around Huntly, down ancient higgledy-piggledy streets I hadn’t explored before. The air spiced by autumn and several open fires. Gray day making the fiery autumn trees glow. Accidently, found the house where George MacDonald was born. Tragically, is home to Huntly Dental Surgery now. Breaks your heart. Makes you want to tuck yourself up ‘At the Back of the North Wind’, head out to sea, sink a few ships.
Pre-film, there was a super-slick advert for the BBC, about how they dig for the truth – wonder what took so long to dig for the truth about newscasters taking photos in their underpants?
Only reason I regret cancelling my TV license earlier this year; I can’t give it up again now, in protest at public funds being used for such guff.
