Last week in the job interview, they said if I was successful, I’d get a phone call, if not, the council ‘Not on this occasion’ email. Immediately after the interview, I turned around to say ‘Nice to meet you’ to one of the interviewers, and caught her micro-sneer just as she appeared to be drawing her eyes off what I was wearing. I knew two things; 1. I don’t want to work anywhere near her. 2. Just as well as she is never going to recommend me for the job.
Wednesday my mobile phone rang unexpectedly and I thought ‘Please don’t let that be about that job’. I don’t know who it actually was as I didn’t get to it in time to answer and don’t know anyone in 0148 code. Probably solar panel pests.
On Friday afternoon, I got the council email. Bizarrely, I got a bit miffed. Just a bit. Firstly, because for the whole of that day I had been thinking it was Saturday and had a micro-rant about why are they sending out that news on a Saturday, spoiling people’s weekends. Secondly, well that thing, like when you want to finish with someone and they finish with you first. What is that about?
Then I re-embraced my liberty and small freedoms, like; no meetings ever again, my days are my own, I can read a book in a oneie (i.e. in one sitting, not while wearing a onesie. Only Joanna Lumley can pull off a onesie. Which is in fact, the issue with them; you have to strip off and freeze in order to pee*). There is the occasional Lady Mary Crawley Day (bubble bath mid-morning, proper afternoon tea in a proper china cup). Suffice to say, I composed myself. It’s what Lady Mary would do.
*No jokes about Tena Lady Pants tokens please

If it's financially feasible,
If it's financially feasible, you're better off without those meetings. Bloody meetings. I used to take in a drink in a mug that had obscene words written on it in different fonts, slightly skewed and blurred. I loved watching people trying to read it and then not knowing what to do once they had.

Oh, I think we've all been there! Thought this was brilliantly observed and I so get the 'micro sneer'.
