Cells divide; day

cracks red raw

a ruddy nut.

One makes two

to split again

to four, again—

the sky, infused;

steeped white walls

vast and changing.

So bright the sea

on pale nape

the waves taste

what I lack;

the tide unpiles

a bared shore.
