A brown Christmas,
dead buzzard in the mud,
fields a-flood,
welcome sight of clearing sky
a breeze up high
to make clouds skud
away awhile;
still warm and bright
the friendly smile,
and heated home,
though long the night;
the beckoning spring is soon to come,
and light procured at Easter,
points to the end of winter’s wait
for new creation’s glorious state.

This is lovely,
This is lovely, Rhiannonw,the first verse, outside in the air and the second verse, draws one inside to where there is warmth.
Really enjoyed this,

Hi Rhiannon,
this certainly describes the scene with the weather
we've been having.
And love the description of Spring on the way.
Really enjoyed reading this poem.
Jenny.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
I like this idea of a brown Christmas with all its positive values. I like the way you mix nature in with religion.
