Cheeky chipmunk’s
cheek-pouch cache:
dashing, snatching,
stashing fodder found
on the autumn forest floor,
bolstering its store
in its burrow underground
for a darker, colder morrow;
cheery chipmunk’s stripes
blend in leafy litter pattern,
bright-eyed fat-face packing,
stacking winter stock.

This was inspired by Michaela Strachan’s comments on Autumnwatch this year - as

was inspired by her similar alliteration about chiffchaffs in Springwatch eighteen months ago.

Thank you, Jenny. Enjoyed playing around with it. It was very funny seeing the chipmunk stuff a big acorn in his cheek, and I think I read somewhere that they've been known to stuff 3 in each cheek, and carry one behind their teeth!! Rhiannon

Thank you! Indeed, so true. A picture of cheeful busyness, redeeming the time. Reminiscent also of Joseph telling the Egyptians they were being given time and warning to prepare for the coming famine. And our biggest preparation is worship and trust now in gospel provision! Rhiannon
