Frustrations. (IP)

Taking ages
to turn the pages –
leaves slip –
can’t command
slow hand,
sloppy grip,
soon lose,
the place in the book
hard to search and look –
easier to snooze
in the chair,
comfortable there …

Learning a knack
to read and feed
though muscles slack –
gadgets mechanical,
inventions electrical
help find a way
to use the day:
many a challenge to steer,
managing sometimes to cheer
those visitors who
to lift my spirits visit me here:

some discouragement,
some success,
some encouragement
some distress,
keep busy, none the less,
drinking daily from God’s grace.

I think, Jean,  it was partly from awareness of my father in law's muscular problems as his dementia had Parkinsonism as part of it, but the poem was generic thinking of what one's attitude would need to be to try  to cope with such loss of abilities (depending partly on actual age and other problems). Rhiannon
