New Horizons

From this tarp

nestled upon the land

I drew a circle in

the sky and watched

as stars kept streaming by.

A simple journey

brought me here to abide

in an overnight stay

to enlarge a knowledge 

of nature’s ways

and yes I must do so

within the wildness

of a forest filled with sound

and fury – of gnashing

teeth and gouging claws. 

I hurry to sleep with

eyes so tight

knowing dreams can

remove me from

fear and fright bringing

an angel to my fitful night.
