Two Better Than One

Scratching came a-calling
at my front door
about the time of late morning
as the sun smiled towards
noon and I opened
the door to see two red lobsters
willing to join our company

we’re from Digby the larger
rasped, where the ocean is deep
and fishermen teased us into traps
with our favourite snack
a few chunks of stinky herring.
Our stomachs were hungry.

The day sped by with tales from
afar as they shared of life
below the sea. We were
so amazed asking them to stay
for supper and bathed them
in butter---delicious.
We will not soon forget them.

Thank you, Jenny. Go for it re the cartoon thought. I had a little fun writing this poem this am. Yesterday a friend brought two lobsters, good sized ones, for my wife and I. Yummy. A real treat especially since our finances cannot afford to buy them at around ten dollars a pound. Take care. Richard LP
