I had stopped trying
I had forgotten
I felt lost
Pessimism gripped me.
I had fallen
for a wasn't
in a long ago.
I thought I'd never
fall again
I stopped trying.
I used to smile more,
people used to be drawn
to me
I used to feel connected
to others.
I had forgotten.
Directionless,
apathetic,
sliding downwards once again.
I felt lost.
Visions of the future,
vague shifting threats
of hopelessness.
Pessimism gripped me.
Then I heard you say
"I love you!"
And then, I REMEMBERED.
I remembered myself,
lost,
forgotten,
half-dead,
The self that had hope,
that felt connected to others,
that achieved something,
that drew others to her.
I remembered...
feeling loved.

A very moving poem, even more so when I read it was autobiographical. I appreciated this stanza the most:
I used to smile more
People used to be drawn
to me
I used to feel connected
to others.
I had forgotten.
There's something very familiar in that to me, unfortunately I suppose :)
Perhaps with the one before last stanza, you could elaborate on the "I remembered section" only because you've made the detachment prior to that so moving and sincere, it's hard for me to understand what made you snap out of that. Hope that makes sense!
