And found a strange and gnarled yearning

The Catholic mass blared from speakers

And shook the neo-gothic columns

I left

I looked for peace in the Abbey

Offers screamed from shop windows

I lost my shoe on the cobbles

I walked back to my office

I looked for peace inside

Spirit is not peace

But spirit is everywhere

Especially inside

I looked for peace and found spirit.
