Ma'at Blues

'Ma-at,' truth, Egyptian standard of judgement at death, the scales meted out for their Pluto by Anubis the wolf-headed 'psycho-pomp,' guardian of pyramids and the dead... how close is a soul to truth?  Have we represented truth?

'Ma-at' blues are rough blues
as we walk life's lanes
we may not choose...

and yet our paces
we must infuse
with every face
we fear to lose...

'before we judge the feet
we try the shoes...'
and the scale this year
we need to lose

there will be time
to hear the blues
