On the Nature of Work

This Earth, or God's creation as I know it, is taken on the whole: extremely rich and capable of excellence. The brake-man brakes, the weaver weaves, the farmer farms, the factory-man produces.... but, by long tradition, we are not so poor that we cannot also afford newsmen, literati and artists, as well as many public intellectuals amateur and professional... not to speak of beggars. Furthermore, it has long been American law that certain individuals are deemed 'disabled' and their survival protected and funded by law, law established by likely our greatest war President F.D.R.
I, for example, am a former newspaper reporter with five books in worldwide circulation. I am legally disabled, and have a political situation, which at its best allows me to be of service to President and state, and at its worst causes only minor problems. I did not graduate from university nor publish five books, nor achieve a reputation through which I could be considered politically dangerous... without a lot of work.
God is shepherd over countless souls which he knows well and each has their individual situation and work, or rather virtue which they bestow upon society at the time when it is needed... or falls out. We should remember that we are all souls and not just bodies, and so should not judge each other always and only by material things. Furthermore, it is often not necessary to judge as God will, and he will not allow creation to be overtaken by sloth... this is a very safe prediction. He judges in each case, and he listens most attentively to the feelings and prayers of the people
And so it is that, with a spirit more humble than mere seeming may suggest, that I implore your ears, and implore your grace... as most of my life I have been at work. This has been in the past manifest and obvious, and shall by your leave be again. Peace to you
