As a native Ashlander and S.O.U. alumni of intellectual inclination, I've often collaborated with this newspaper to discuss a wide range of happenings and issues in a way that I hoped might inform, foment, and occasionally persuade my fellow Ashlanders. Because I know this city to be rather cosmopolitan and globally-connected, very few of my hundreds of letters restricted themselves to our beautiful bohemian square miles.
Today, breaking a lengthy silence, I'd like to thank the city of Ashland, all of you, for maintaining a culture of peace and freedom, for being the rare sort of place where the legal rights of often "low-class" pedestrians to safety are protected against what can only be called slaughterous classist anarchy, and for so many other things which have helped this physically and psychologically disabled young man to find some sort of happiness and purpose.
