(dedicated to Melania Trump, our first lady)
Citizens, readers, politicos: please pay attention... Discerning people don't give much thought to class warfare any more. The state structures and the philosophical credibility of communism have been justifiably crushed; Marxism vs. Capitalism is not the concern of the emerging generations, nor for the more thoughtful among the elders. And as for all this partisan entrenchment... it's been a real problem for some time. The congres has been in such a gridlock that, despite the noble efforts of many good public servants, major and pressing issues have lain in neglect... as the politics of optics have all too often swamped the politics of issues and ideals.
The Sanders movement worked for a time because leftism was essentially a side issue: the greatest and wealthiest nation on earth could afford a little generosity... and people were excited by new energy and ideas, reviving the lost glory and liberty of the 60s era.
The victory of Donald J Trump doesn't mean doom and gloom for the blue states, nor does it give conventional conservatives the moon... No, America is creating and coalescing around a movement in which 'the greatest and the least' of us is an important team-mate. We're going to do great things: grand patriotic energies are moving, and we the people, not chained by the conventional parties, are with IT...
With energy and sagacity, we're going to re-establish our borders and patriotism, re-vitalize manufacturing and embrace the silicon revolution: build a grand wall, colonize Mars... and, if we do it right, with skill and panache, everybody's going to be too busy and excited to grumble about the cost of subsidized insulin, school lunches, and indian reservations
Deep in their souls, most all people want to work hard: to struggle, to serve, to invent! We want to. But you have to pitch it right... as Trump does. Present something exciting and people will go along with a will and a spark... otherwise what Republicans have here is a pyrhic victory... that would lead to more division... but that's not the case if only we wake up to the reality... that the red and the blue states need not be in a war to the death, as certain politicos have framed it.
Without surrendering humanitarianism, we should embrace the new President elect and his leadership team, and then get to work with a new American energy: to heal repair and rebuild, to re-shape complex issues like our approach to international diplomacy and education reform, to rise from the ashes and division of our recent political tumult... as a stronger and wiser nation re-forged and wizened in the fire of fierce political and spiritual battle, re-unified by our sacred traditions and our sense of shared common purpose: ready to 'make America great again...' with heart
