The Spanish Knight
By shades
- 563 reads
There’s a story told from days of old,
That a knight from southern Spain,
Travelled over to the port of Dover,
To find an English Dame.
He bought with him his violin,
To serenade and tease her,
And casks of wine and gifts divine,
And Spanish wares to please her.
An English knight stood by her side,
In his suit of shining armour,
And standing proudly, shouted loudly,
“I’ll die before you harm her”.
They drew their swords like two warlords,
But the knight from southern Spain,
Was taken back when the sky turned black,
And it began to pour with rain.
The English knight had won the fight,
With little cut nor thrust,
And roared with laughter at the Spaniards armour,
Turning red with rust.
The moral here is crystal clear,
Now the drama’s over,
Oil your gear if you’re coming here,
‘Cause it rains a lot in Dover.
