Black velvet,
she’d ever
had a thing for...
For a year
after she went,
it hung
on a hook
in the hall
gathering dust;
the coat
that was
‘so her’.
A touch frayed
at the seams,
but she’d loved it,
nonetheless.
Her perfume
lingered still...
Byzance –
a taste we shared.
And in its pocket –
written
in her own
familiar hand,
a shopping-list:
‘Mozzarella,
Broccoli,
and Cheerios’.
Just a black,
velvet coat,
but she wore it
so well.

I bet that black velvet coat will never leave your
house, I can imagine it was very precious.
A very special read Tina.

I agree with ScoZen- give the coat to Ashley- but keep the note. A good title for this.
