Downfall Of Guinevere And Arthur

Standing in silence
beneath an apple sky,
emotions like
ice cream clouds
formed then melt away,
hidden thoughts kept
safely locked inside,
remember being here
so many times before,
numerous
crippled memories
causing his distrust,
finding out
she'd someone else,
agony of discovery
sacrificed him
to the wolves,
a woman who treated this
broken heart as fair game,
he was jilted over and over
marked by those who
searched for lust,
when all he wanted
was for their hearts
to beat as one.
She yearned to be
marooned once more
on his island of
warmth at Camelot,
security of sheltered arms
to drift cocooned in curves,
feast upon moist lips as
they drink each other in,
once more flesh becoming one.
Gazing out into the gloom
she tried to take his hand,
he shivered at her touch
then pulled away afraid,
mist did not quickly disperse
on somnolent calm of lake,
each rippled breath caught
in coiled rings; bubbling
beneath layered
shrouded ghosts,
fish gliding up
kissing...rupturing
surface membrane,
as innocent flush
of new virgin day
may soon
warm passions,
her energy
would meet
with his vitality,
by afternoon
their gaze
would once again
unite them as one,
or...in showers
would they
pause and wonder
feelings of confusion,
this late August day,
no comfort to be found,
could he walk away
leaving footprints?
Her pride standing
in the way,
as tears form
trickling down
already wet cheeks
mingling with rain,
watching wavelets
ebb and flow.

So many stories, mirroring
So many stories seem to exist of these two and the others, mirroring the tensions of every age wanting embracing and drawing immediate passion to be beautiful though it be without true committmen, faithfulnesst and perseverence and end in hurt after hurt. The Welsh name for Guinevere is Gwenhwyfar ( the f sounds hard as a v). Rhiannon
