In That Moment

In that moment
Closed my eyes
Heard sound like
Water cascading,
But...it was just
Rustling leaves
high up in copse
Of Ridges tall trees,
Then with an
Explosion as
crows flew...came
cry of cawing too.
Causing me to
Catch a rhyme,
Words spoken drift
With sensing time,
But in the end
here and now
I'll let words
flow as they allow.
Reminder of me and my partner's
walk up on the Ridge way on
Tuesday 6th November 2018.

Lovely poem, Jenny. Funny
Lovely poem, Jenny. Funny how running water and rustling leaves have that similar sound.
And the explosion of crows. What an image!
It's special when you have moments like that - and catch those words, and use them to express that feeling.

Nice that you are able to go
Nice that you are able to go on such walks now, Jenny. You must really appreciate them, and such a lovely place. Thank you for bringing to us the reminder of the sound in the leaves, and the crows whooshing up and cawing. When we had to regularly travel the M25 and have a tea snack in a nearby layby years ago, I remember being surprised that the sound of the traffic from a distance was similar to waterfall sound. So, in the quiet layby I could dream that I was near countryside! Rhiannon

Hi Jenny,
Hi Jenny,
You have captured the moments in time so convincingly. It is nice you can still get out and enjoy nature and then freeze frame it when you are home!

In an interview someone
In an interview someone famous who had gone to live in America (can't remember who it was) said the thing they missed most about England was the sound of crows cawing in the Autumn. Your poem has a timelessness to it, makes me think this has been a sound of Autumn for centuries, if you had been in the same place 200 years ago you could have heard them

Hi Jenny,
Hi Jenny,
I am afraid I am still suffering with the infestation. I knew it was serious but I had hoped that by now things would be abating, but sadly they are not. Today I put up more tapes (the sticky fly catchers) and I know I must buy more aerosols. I have googled it on the net and they say I must find the source of their breeding but I don't think there is one. They seem to be coming from nowhere. I am now taking the cat food up as soon as she has finished, as she always leaves some, and am hoping it will make a difference. The maggots were the worst thing and finding cups and glasses full of dead flies. I think it is one of the worst periods in my history, I am not getting any younger and am wondering if I will become like John Bullman in my story, a victim literally of flies !!!
Bye,
Hilary

Sala kahle!
“Sala kahle” is a Zulu greeting for goodbye. It says “stay well”. For “go well” the greeting is “hamba kahle!”
I gave an attempted phonetic English spelling. I am learning isiZulu it's going slowly but steadily. I find it very difficult. It is the most spoken language in SA IsiXhoza is in second place and Afrikaans third. English is only sixth. One can check with the census numbers.
Keep well Jennifer! Stay well! Sala ghachle!

Blessed
We are blessed with the sounds of the countryside. I enjoyed the way your beautiful poem evoked my own memories and that is the beauty of such wrting; it can mean different things to different people. A well deserved cherry pick
