Martha and John had decided not to go to Church
this Christmas morning, it was all to much for
Martha with the baby and her mum and dad being
there, she didn't like to keep leaving Ellie,
Robert and Sally Ann, especially today. The
children were running round the house, shouting
with Rusty the dog chasing them, they had been up
since 6am, so excited, especially having grandma
and grandpa there, they just couldn't contain their excitement.
Martha had been cooking the turkey all night on a
very low heat, so it was well and truely cooked,
the smell waft through the house, making the
children hungry.
"When's dinner?" Ellie and Robert shouted together, "We're starving."
"Not for another five hours yet, I suggest you
get some breakfast, after all it's only 8am, then
we can go for a walk, get some fresh air and leave
Grandma and Grandpa in peace, to get on with the
veg for dinner."
Ellie and Robert ran to the kitchen cupboard, they
took down some bowls and a box of frosties.
"Yum, yum!" said Ellie, "I love frosties."
As they tucked into their breakfast, they decided
what they were going to do after dinner.
"I know let's show Grandpa how to play on WII,"
said Ellie.
"Yeh! good idea," replied Robert. "We can play
bowling."
Once the children had eaten their cereals, they
got dressed and got ready to go out.
"Where are we going mum?" yelled Robert.
"Just down into the village, across the fields,
see if there are any ducks to feed down by the
village pond, though I think the pond will be frozen over."
Rusty their terrier knew he was about to go for a
walk, he was getting very excited, chasing his
tail round and round like a mad thing.
Martha had got Sally Ann, tucked up in the pram
ready to go out. Dad had Rusty on the lead and
they were ready for their walk. Martha went to the
kitchen.
"Now mum, before we go, is everything okay, do you
know where everything is?"
"Ofcourse love," said her mother. "I have cooked
here before you know, now you go off and get some
fresh air, make sure you wear those children out,
get all that energy out of them."
"Okay mum and thanks again." Martha smiled as they
walked out the door.
