Wild Side Of April

Started off a clear morning,
dawn sky of red and gold;
wood mice hoped this day
would stay pleasant...and
not too cold.
Proceeding on their way
marveling painted fields,
patchwork blanketed
landscape they felt held
source of food,
going about important
business with little time
to play, powerless to curb
hunger; up and down twigs,
stems and branches, those
twitching noses, quivering
whiskers; search all day.
With some trepidation feeling
slightly nervous, hearing only
bird sound in distance for
company; and a flock of
crows high up in faraway
coppice scatter anxiously.
Meanwhile segments of sun
start to fade, desires now
begin to dwindle as dark
clouds cover mice in shade,
If by chance rain should wash
mice clean; then they'll bathe
for hours, before going on
their merry way thanking
April for its showers.

This is a bit of fun, taking
This is a bit of fun, taking on a mouse-view in your wander! Though I do wonder whether mice do like to get wet or whether they shelter. Cats don't like rain do they? regards, Rhiannon

Adorable poem Jenny- and when
Adorable poem Jenny- and when I read it I smiled thinking how we must think alike; I'd had a silly thought turn into a poem about a rabbit on a spring day. But, I love this mouse world you've created and a spring day in that life was much fun to read.

Lovely images, Jenny. Strange weather we get in April. We had sun, rain, sleet and hail yesterday! Perhaps we and the wood mice yearn for warmer days to come..

This is delightful, Jenny. I love mice, I actually saw one today, scurrying in a polytunnel., they do have important business to do. Segments of sun, yes, I want a whole orange sun for the whole day.

This is a lovely, uplifting poem Jenny.
I read it to my cats. They're salivating like Pavlov dogs.
I told them not to be so rude.
