England's Green and Pleasant Land

Children playing in the garden
Under a clear blue sky
Children hiding in makeshift bunkers
Praying they won’t die
Children laughing after school
Climbing into parents cars
Children crying as war planes roar
Bringing bombs and scars
Childrens birthdays presents galore
Party balloons and cake
Children old before their time
And dead before they wake
Children safe asleep at night
In a land of silent peace
Children stare at candlelight
Haunted by an unseen beast
Children playing in the park
On climbing frames and swings
Children forever in the dark
As the slaughter bell forever rings
Life in suburban England
Under Conservative rule
Where children have no fear
At elitist private schools
Daddy is a politician
And often casts a vote
We must go to war for oil
Send planes and navy boats
Syria and Yemen are in the way
So fire the guns and drop the bombs
And blow those kids away.

I think this sums it up for
I think this sums it up for the children. The brevity and pace serves it well, smokejack.
