That winter day
Light snow falling
In the University Parks
Me in my Norwegian Trawlerman Polo Neck
Wrapped with a tartan scarf
You said I looked like Rod Stewart
Which made me laugh
You in your Afghan coat
Jeans and green kicker boots
Red cheeks and a glowing smile
My head flooded with love
For the hippy with style
We guessed the number of snowflakes
Landing on our heads
Walking to Browns for afternoon tea
In the days when coffee wasn’t hip
We guessed the occupations
Of strangers at their tables
I wondered if they could see
How much I was in love with you
I wondered if you could see it too

My late stepdad strongly maintained
My late stepdad strongly maintained "you are your own worst enemy" I thought he was talking nonsense. It took me years to understand and to realise it is true. To thine own self be true, and the truth will set you free.
Your poem is very nice- innocent merry and pretty!
