Mr Avaricious
Had too much food for dinner
Had too much drink to follow
Cannot retire as a serial sinner
Will not live outside the hollow
Care for no one it’s down to me
We are not all born the same
A mighty oak or a bonsai tree
The will to run or lost and lame
This is no circus I’m no clown
Don’t smile at me with trousers down
There’s more like me in every town
You can’t keep us all underground
Growing fatter on a world so thin
Taking footsteps where I’ve never stood
This is not where I wanted in
You’d destroy us all if you could
Fat man in slimbone alley
With dark money on your mind
Your ancestors lie in vulture valley
And the crucifixes are hard to find
This is no circus I’m no clown
Don’t smile at me with trousers down
There’s more like me in every town
You can’t keep us all underground
Look at you now upon reflection
Did you see yourself below the belt
What you bought was not perfection
Now you know how other folk felt
But it made no difference to your life
Blame is an arrow in a stranger’s back
You can cut your world with the smallest knife
And leave your dead skin to feed the pack
This is no circus we are not clowns
We have no wish for money’s lure
The acrobats of money are tumbling down
This is no circus greed is no cure
