Riddle of Ruin

- 1113 reads
My father never understood me
Said Jesus to his friends
What he offered I did not need
So I left home and discovered weed
And the world became much slower
By the second by the minute and the hour
Making it easier to see what’s going on
To discover what’s being said and what was heard
And we listened to the singing birds
Who warned us in advance
That life is just a chance
Where some folk get to dance
Whilst others get to cry
Where prisoners tell the truth
And men of the church lie
And the innocence of youth
Is a river run dry
And nobody asks why
Because everybody is lost
And those who sign at the cross
Bury the guilt of the past
And those who came in first place
Always finished last..
