Pick of the world

A writing exercise from my writing class, 'A place we like/don't like' 300 words.
I think my favourite place in the whole wide world, and I have visited plenty, must be Aldi. It was a toss up between that wondrous place and Little Cove Hotel on Grenada in the Caribbean but in the end Aldi won because of its sheer uniqueness.
I know that at Little Cove sipping a cocktail, delivered by Andre, whilst watching the ever changing sea, being lulled to sleep by crashing waves or waiting for Kellon to shin up a tree to get you a coconut could seem like the ultimate but compared to Aldi, well need I say more!
That rush as you arrive on the car park and have to fight for a space followed by the necessity of getting essential supplies. For me premium quality, all butter croissants, cheese filled fish cakes and a bottle of red wine. I can hear you say what a strange combination but then that is what Aldi is all about!
Once the necessities are selected I can then indulge my passion.
The centre aisle.
Ever changing.
Ever fascinating.
A generator finds itself sitting cheek by jowl with ready made meringues. A spanner set tries to outshine deluxe underwear, large size only. On my last visit I was very tempted by a pannini maker, I'm not sure how I have managed without one all these years, but I was sidetracked by a 'desert set'. Now I can hear you saying, 'Don't you mean a dessert set'?, no it was definitely a 'desert' set and being made in Germany I'm sure they know what they're talking about. Maybe I'll get one next time, not sure when I'll next be in a desert though.
I'm convinced you can see why Aldi wins even though at Little Cove the sun shines almost every day, the sea washes just feet from your room, pelicans skim the waves in search of fish and the owner arrives most days riding a donkey called Darius.
What's to choose?

HI Lindy
HI Lindy
It was good fun to read this. I've never been to an Aldi, but now you have given it such high praise, I must make the effort. Little Cove in the Carribean sounds nice too, but you can see the sea much closer and cheaper than that.

Starfish this is a nice slice of reality and you make a gentle point about choice. Elsie

Loved this too, Lindy. I've never been in an Aldi...it's all Waitroses and Tescos in my neck of the woods, but I shall have to try it sometime.
Really enjoyed
