Shamanism is not unique to East Asia. It has evolved over time in different places. The Founder of Scientology is a shaman. At some point in his life, he was scapegoated and suffered a terrible punishment for something he was not wholly responsible for. He went through a schizophrenic breakdown and got a grand vision of himself as some type of world saviour to compensate for his inferiority complex. Jim Morrison was a shaman... absorbing within himself Native American Culture and the unconscious of 60's culture and self-exploding. America is really driven by a Herclitean sense of culture... opposites wrestle with each other and one force wins then the other force wins... no progress, toward 0. Shamanism in South Korea has survived in South Korea because it combines nationalism (a sense of what is uniquely Korean) with ancestor worship. A Shaman shoots up his shakti or life energy through the spine to the 7th chakra, the crown of the head and illumination. His shakti or life energy then meets with a beloved cousin's spirit or a dead mother's spirit in the land of the spirits. The shaman's function is to establish continuity. A psychologist's function is to take the negative traumas a person experiences and have the patient positively interpret those traumas so that the patient can go on with their lives instead of being stuck in repetition compulsion. I am not quite sure what Shamans think of Jews. Don't think that Shamans are just those people in the country in the boondocks of a dying local culture, Just as American women academics have taken up witchcraft as a hobby, Korean women academics, military personnel, upper class women have taken up shamanism or Mu-Dang-ism. Mu-Dangs also use imitative magic and sympathetic magic and all sorts of other tricks to find out who's having an affair with whom, who's really the one making the decisions, etc. There are other forms of knowledge than rational knowledge. There are patterns to culture. If you watch the Godfather, Godfather knows who's going to betray whom and where. People's MO (modus operanadi) does not change unless it needs to.
