God help us

Where would I be Lord
without you, a lost soul
in a forest, hungry and weary,
eating whenever I could, trying
to find a limit to pleasure.
You have filled my soul
with the holy spirit,
cleansed my mind,
purified my heart, thrown
away my hatred. My soul
no longer rots with holes of cheese
that sin nibbles on.
So long, I have held onto
the blanket of darkness, hiding
my face with my fears,
hiding from others, hiding from
myself, so afraid and fragile,
not wishing to break open
as glass does under to cut
blades of grass or whatever
lies underneath, but your invisible
hands guide me, set me to sail
over waves of signals,
you are someone deeper than all
suffering, disclosing
the truth of our repressed evil
as our goodness which resides
in an environment of shame&;loneliness,
all gardens deemed so superfluous.
Guide me toward righteousness
with your rod and lead me
toward a life of light, blind me
with your illuminations, as to
break the fears that vanity facades
as not to feel pain.
Lord, you who once let my soul into
your world, let me once again
enter that world
as not to fade into
the world of ghosts.
