I could hardly see you through the haze,
like dawn at the end of the day. The evening was underwater, cool as
iced
coffee, drinkable through a straw. As
I maneuvered I saw you blur in the shirt-blue
breeze, in black and grey, fingers to your lips you began to fade
behind
the gauze which the dusk wrapped around you, dressing your wounds.
