Mandolin (1)
Shaped like a big, brown, tear - as if all the heartbreak
weeps and misty-eyed, folk-wrung, whimpers of the
wailing, wooing, wassailing, western world have rolled
down your bitter-sweet, pear-drop bulk like real ale
down a corduoroy sleeve; swelling your hips with their
salt sincerity, year upon year of lullabies and yawps,
gradually gaining weight, layer upon layer, skin upon
skin like a beautiful, maudlin, lachrymose, stalactite.
