The scallies in the alley
Congregate, illicit
Sharing joints and curse words
Making reference, explicit
To things they did or said they did or did but they don’t say they did
The scallies in the alley
Tracksuits, hoodies, gear
Unknown in their complexities
Obscenities only, hear
The things they want or say they want or don’t but won’t admit it
The scallies in the alley,
Surreptitious, but alert
Are tough and hard and dangerous
But never are they heard
For no one knows what they think they know, no, no-one knows but those in the know
‘What you looking at?’ the scally says.
‘This picture ain’t for free.
For no one knows what they think they know,
No, no-one knows but me.’
